Future Plans/Goals

I might have said this before, but I don’t think I’ve ever had so much free time in my entire life, other than maybe other than middle school summers. I have no commitments at all, other than my three days of class a week with minimal homework thats usually fun or useful like my such as my viking history or language class. And even on those school days, I probably have 8 hours of free time with nothing to do.
For the first two weeks of this new lifestyle I just sat around and browsed stuff on my computer/wasted time, usually the same stuff as I would do if I had just a couple of free hours during school at WM when I wasn’t doing homework or socializing. I have a single dorm room here, which is something I’ve never had the privilege of having at school, so it’s really nice to have a lot of alone time. Those two weeks were a much needed break, but after some thinking I realized that now that I have so much time, I can really devote time to starting new healthy habits as well as breaking old, bad ones. For example, some of the things that were really hard to get around doing were: Reading for 45 minutes a day, working out every day, creating a regular sleeping schedule, keeping up with modern news through the economist/other articles, doing extra exercises for Norwegian language, and even starting to wear my retainer again (I would always wake up in the middle of the night with huge pains from my teeth moving, but now I can afford to lose the sleep!!). I scavenged around the construction yard near our student village and managed to build a bench press with concrete blocks. Like I said, lots of time to utilize.
So now I’ve kind of a daily routine of doing all those things so that hopefully by the summer and next semester, they’re regular routine things to me and it would be weird not to do them. We’ll see how it goes.
One thing I’ve really enjoyed doing is planning trips on most of my long weekends. I really didn’t realize how much work this would take until I came to Oslo initially and discovered all of the preliminary info you need to know about the place you’re traveling to. Where you’re going to live, how you’re going to get around, bus schedules, budgeting, and timeframes are just some of the things you gotta figure out before you head off somewhere. Going out and drinking is one of the largest costs of living in Oslo, so I’ve limited my self to going out once-twice per weekend to save money for my trips, as well living off rice, bread, free potatoes, and veggies. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the sweet trips I have planned (This is taking right from my notes, so you can see what I actually wrote down/plan on doing)

Check out may 18-21, thats probably the trip I’m looking forward to the most… and its the farthest away. A lot of stuff is in my head as well, which I should probably get down on paper before I forget it all…I also plan on bartending for our local Social Science student bar when I’m here in oslo on weekends which I’ve mentioned before. Excited for that. I was gonna write about a nordic traverse I did today up in Norefjell, but I already wrote too much, I’ll do that in the next one tomorrow so look for it then!
